North Jersey's Priciest Home Sales for May

A grand European-inspired home with modern luxuries on nearly 17 acres, an elaborate $6 million estate in a prestigious Bergen County neighborhood and a charming $1.3 million lakefront oasis along Lake Mohawk were among the most expensive properties to sell in North Jersey in May.

All of this month's elaborate properties were sold through the typical real estate process, with four of them changing hands for price tags of more than $3 million.

Here's a look at the priciest homes that sold in each North Jersey county in May.

Bergen County

120 S. Woodland St., Englewood — $6 million

Officially changing hands for $6 million on May 15, the home at 120 S. Woodland St. in Englewood was the overall priciest single-family property to sell in North Jersey for the month. It was listed by Joshua Baris, an agent with Coldwell Banker Realty's Global Luxury Division and founder of NJLux , and bought with Adam Bachner, also an agent with Coldwell Banker Realty.

This eight-bedroom, 11-bathroom grand estate is situated on three acres in the prestigious East Hill section of Englewood, boasting high-end details like mitered herringbone oak floors, antique light fixtures, hardware by P.E. Guerin and more. It features a custom commercial kitchen with reclaimed limestone floor and a timber ceiling, a banquet-sized formal dining room, a conservatory with lots of nature lighting and a spacious lower level with a wine bar, billiard room, gym, indoor pool and media room with a bar. Outside, the landscaped grounds offer a pool, a pagoda with two cabanas, a basketball court, a tennis court and a putting green.

Passaic County

43 Horizon Drive, Wayne — $1.42 million

The home at 43 Horizon Drive in Wayne officially sold for $1.42 million on May 15 after being on the market for a little under three months. The property was both listed by and bought with Karen Peters of Coldwell Banker Realty.

Situated on a 1.05-acre lot on a private cul-de-sac in the Horizon Heights neighborhood of Wayne, this stately colonial-style home boasts five bedrooms and six bathrooms. It features an open floor plan with formal living and dining rooms, a bonus sitting room, a family room with a fireplace and built-ins, as well as a gourmet chef's kitchen with high-end appliances, a large center island, a wine fridge and a butler's pantry. The primary suite has multiple custom walk-in closets and a spacious bathroom with a skylight, and the home's back yard has a patio with a stone waterfall and an upper-level property for outdoor activities.

Morris County

3 Spring Meadow Lane, Mendham — $5.25 million

After being on the market for just under two months, the home at 3 Spring Meadow Lane in Mendham changed hands for a cool $5.25 million on May 15. The grand property was listed by Tony Verducci and Rima Shah, both of the NJ Luxury Real Estate Group at Serhant, and bought with Ashley Christus of Turpin Real Estate.

This six-bedroom, nine-bathroom estate — which was originally inspired by the impressiveness of Versailles — was fully renovated in 2020 to blend European splendor with modern luxury. Situated on a lush 17-acre lot, the property has an authentic English greenhouse with its own water supply, a sprawling apple orchard and a remodeled pool area with fully-equipped pool house. Inside, it features formal living and dining rooms, a spacious family room, a chef's kitchen, a home library, a high-end home theater and a fully finished basement with a gym, wine cellar and recreation room, among other things.

81 Prospect Ave., Montclair — $4.65 million

The home at 81 Prospect Ave. in Montclair officially sold for $4.65 million on May 6. It was listed by Julie Kim and bought with Ann McCarthy, both agents from Prominent Properties Sotheby's International Realty. This Tudor home is situated on a 0.77-acre lot in Montclair's Mountain Historic District . Built in 1900, the property boasts eight bedrooms and six bathrooms.

2 Oak Parkway, Sparta — $1.3 million

Both listed by and bought with Darlene Randazzo of Coldwell Banker Realty, the home at 2 Oak Parkway in Sparta officially sold for $1.3 million on May 16 after being on the market since 2024.

This four-bedroom, three-bathroom home is situated on 1.06 acres of lakefront property along Lake Mohawk. Outside, it features an in-ground pool with a paver patio, a brick boathouse with back and front entrances, two docks, a private beach and a recently redone wrap-around deck. Inside, the home offers about 3,305 square feet of living space with two fireplaces, a spacious living room, a remodeled kitchen with high-end finishes and more.

602 Madison St. #2, Hoboken — $3.08 million

Unit #2 at 602 Madison St. in Hoboken officially sold for $3.08 million on May 23. The property, located in a building that had been fully redone and completed earlier this year, was listed by Victor Jalinos of Liberty Realty and bought with Kaja Bolton of Christie's International Real Estate Group. It boasts about 2,986 square feet of living space, with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and an array of high-end finishes.
