Earn up to $10,000 for opening a brokerage account? What about $5,000 for joining a new wealth management platform? Or $3,000 for starting a checking account? With dozens of banks, credit unions and other financial institutions promising hundreds, or thousands of dollars for signing up with their various savings and investment products, it begs the question: Why?

WalletHub writer and analyst Chip Lupo says all of the biggest sign-up bonuses this month have at least one commonality. “Banks use sign-up bonuses to grab attention,” says Lupo. “It’s often more appealing than advertising a slightly better interest rate.” (If it is a higher rate you’re after, these are some of the best-paying savings accounts from our partner Bankrate. )

Here’s what you need to know about the biggest bank and investment account sign-up bonuses, how to find the best offer for your financial needs and the 10 biggest bonuses of June 2025.

Why do some banks give huge bonuses?

How do these banks and credit unions get away with paying such high bonuses, while others don’t? Bankrate chief financial analyst Greg McBride says much of what’s behind these big offers has to do with various customer acquisition strategies. “Some banks may determine that paying the bonus is less costly to them than having to pay a higher rate on both new deposits and existing accounts,” says McBride, adding that “the most eye-popping bonuses also require the most amount of money, so only pursue a bonus that is consistent with the amount of money you have available to move.”

To be sure, the very biggest sign-up bonuses require transferring thousands — or millions — of dollars in some cases, along with clearing countless other hurdles to qualify. But if you’re willing to follow the steps, NerdWallet personal finance expert Kate Ashford says racking up a bonus may very well be a worthy venture. “If you’re thinking of opening a new account anyway, a sign-up bonus is the icing on the banking cake,” says Ashford. “If two accounts are otherwise identical, choose the one with the better sign-up offer. But other factors should be higher on your list.”

Top 10 sign-up bonuses for June 2025

We’ve pulled together the biggest sign-up bonuses of June 2025, as well as five of the most attainable cash offers. Regardless of which you choose, be sure to do your homework before opening and read the fine print for details and requirements.

E-Trade from Morgan Stanley: Up to $10,000

Eligible E-Trade brokerage accounts of at least $5 million can add a $10,000 sign-up bonus for the effort. While indeed not everyone will qualify for this offer, the bonus here is based on a deposit tier, with accounts starting at $1,000 to $4,999 earning the baseline bonus of $50. While amounts beyond that rake in a larger cash credit, these accounts must be opened by the July 31 deadline and fully funded within 60 days of opening. Also be sure to use promo code OFFER25 to activate.

Citi Personal Wealth Management account : Up to $5,000

Earning the top bonus here is likely designated for high-net-worth individuals, only. That’s because while it takes at least $50,000 to earn the lowest available bonus of $500 with a personal wealth management account at Citi, only those who bring $2 million or more can earn the top level bonus of $5,000. You’ll also have to do so with new-to-bank money with the help of an advisor by the June 30 deadline, as well as enroll or maintain enrollment in e-delivery of statements.

TradeStation : Up to $3,500

Transfer $5,000 and you can get a $150 bonus added to your account. Do so with at least $1 million within the 45-day funding window and the commission-free platform will add $3,500. That said, you will have to maintain that balance for at least 270 days. The offer is also only available for individuals and joint equity or futures accounts funded with new assets.

Chase Private Client Checking: Up to $3,000

Earn $1,000 for deposits from $150,000 and $249,999, $2,000 for amounts from $250,000 to $499,999, or $3,000 when you deposit $500,000 or more in a Chase Private Client Checking account by the July 16 deadline. You’ll just need to make your minimum transfer balance within 45 days of enrollment and by transferring the qualifying amount of deposits to a combination of eligible checking, savings and/or J.P. Morgan Wealth Management non-retirement accounts that are opened in a Chase branch and serviced by a J.P. Morgan Private Client Advisor. For whichever account you choose, you’ll just need to maintain that qualifying balance for 90 days.

Flushing Complete Checking: Up to $2,500

Maintain a three-month average account balance of at least $10,000 and Flushing Complete Checking customers are eligible for a bonus. For balances above $250,000, the bonus here caps out at $2,500. This offer, however, is only available to new customers and just one account per customer.

Capital One 360 Performance Savings Account : Up to $1,500

Huntington Business Checking Account : Up to $1,000

Schwab : Up to $1,000

Become a new Schwab client with a referral code from a friend and you may very well be eligible for this $1,000 bonus. To qualify, you will need to deposit a combined $500,000 or more into your account within 45 days of account opening. Schwab wil then deposit your bonuses within one to two weeks after qualifying.

Associated Bank Checking : Up to $400

Daily balance averages are calculated 90 days after account opening and factor in the average balance from days 31 to 90. If you qualify, your bonus will be added within 120 days of account opening.

Truist One Checking : Up to $400

You have until Oct. 29 to qualify for this competitive $400 sign-up bonus at Truist. It's been more than 25 years since Nintendo held a console launch where Edwin Flores wasn't among the first in line. The avid gamer was at the Times Square Toys R Us for the launch of the GameCube in 2001, and has been there at midnight to be among the first in the world to get his hands on the Wii in 2006, Wii U in 2012, Nintendo Switch in 2017 and its OLED upgrade in 2021. "You have to live this," the 50-year-old told Make It outside Nintendo's global flagship store in New York City on Wednesday morning. "When you're in a place where everyone likes the same thing as you, it's fun." Flores arrived to West 48th street at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, a little more than 24 hours ahead of the Thursday midnight launch of the hotly-anticipated Switch 2. And he came prepared to splurge, having been slowly setting aside money for years ever since rumors of a new Switch first began surfacing online. "I'm going to buy one for me and one ...
